What the numbers on this site do and do not include

The S-corp calculator is a teaching tool. It narrows a question; it does not answer it. Here is exactly what it assumes.

The S-corp calculator

Illustrative only, and not tax advice. No result on that page creates a client relationship, predicts what you would actually owe, or should be relied on to make an election. Reasonable compensation is a facts-and-circumstances determination, not a percentage, and it is the single figure most likely to move the answer.

What it calculates

Tax year
Federal figures for tax year 2026.
Self-employment and payroll tax
Including the 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax above the threshold for the filing status you choose.
Qualified business income
Estimated net of the deductible half of self-employment tax, with the minimum deduction that applies from 2026 for an owner who materially participates.
Deductions
The standard deduction for the filing status you choose, plus any further deductions you enter.

What it leaves out

State tax
Massachusetts and every other state income tax, and any city or local tax.
Credits
Every federal credit, refundable or not.
Investment and other income
The net investment income tax, the alternative minimum tax, and any household income outside the business.
Employment costs
State unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and the cost of running a payroll service.
Retirement
Contributions to any retirement plan, and the deduction that comes with them.
The cost of the structure
The separate corporate return, the registered agent, and the annual filings an S corporation brings with it.
Other payroll
Any employee other than the owner. The estimate assumes the owner is the only person on payroll.

Before you file an election

An S corporation election is filed on Form 2553 and is not casually undone. Whether it helps depends on your profit, a salary you could defend for the work you actually do, your state, and what the structure costs to run. That is a thirty-minute conversation, and the first one is free.

Other figures on this site

The Google rating

The rating shown on the home page is the score on our Google Business Profile at the date it was last checked, and it links straight to that profile so you can read the reviews yourself. Reviews are real client reviews, quoted as written. We do not mark them up with review schema, because Google disallows self-serving review markup on a business's own listing.

Practice rights

An Enrolled Agent is licensed by the United States Department of the Treasury and holds unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in every state. That is a representation credential. It is not a licence to prepare every state's return, and where a state return is in scope we confirm it in writing before the work starts.

Federal dates

The dates shown in the tax calendar are federal dates for calendar-year filers. When one falls on a weekend or a federal holiday it moves to the next business day. Massachusetts dates can differ, and we track both on your file.
